During the first couple of weeks of our arrival in Italy we planned to meet up with a local at Bar Donatella in Bisenti, whilst sitting outside people watching, I commented out loud “this would be a lovely place to live, as it has everything’” it was then a fledging idea that would ultimately become Bisenti Apartments.

May 2023, we left Ireland, my husband towing a trailer with a vintage car, accompanied by two children, two dogs, three cats, four gerbils, three goldfish, two turtles and myself heavily pregnant. Our purpose - to get to our new Italian home which we had discovered the previous year and came to visit once in October 2022 - all based on a photograph seen online.

To make our new home complete, we adopted two rescue dogs, one being a Abruzzo Maremma Shepherd, that I had been speaking with the shelter about on WhatsApp for over three months.  Assuring them I would be coming and I would rescue him.

Fast forward to July 2023, I gave birth in our house, not planned as I was meant to go to hospital that very day.  A successful birth but I needed an ambulance (three arrived) and I was rushed to hospital with a life threatening condition.

However, it was the first birth in the village since 1971, and we were asked to do a national Italian television interview with the local Mayor who came to our house. All these experiences made us fall in love with the area even more, the people are so kind, it’s warm, and we feel we are finally home ❤️

Returning to that fledging idea of Bisenti Apartments; It was a culmination of the events above that drove me to want to share my passion for the local area and people with you. I want the apartments to reflect what I would expect from a home, for it to be comfortable, welcoming and to create wonderful memories for you.

To discover that same buzz of excitement we experienced discovering for the first time what a wonderful place we live in.
